Earthquake sequence in Western Turkey since February 6^th 2017

An important seismic sequence started on the morning of Monday 6^th, February 2017 in Western Turkey, south-west of the region of Canakkale, 20-30 km west of Ayvacik. Dozens of homes in at least five villages like in Yukarikoy have been damaged and five people were injured.

In one week, the EMSC has recorded:

• 4 earthquakes of magnitude 5 and above
• 16 earthquakes of magnitude 4 and above
• 126 earthquakes of magnitude 3 and above
• 967 earthquakes of magnitude 2 and above

Surprisingly, all epicenters are located very close to eachother, in a 20-30km wide area, near the city of Gülpınar. See map below.
